The Reverse Logistics Management Model: Thailand Context

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to define the reverse logistics management model, then analysis by structural equation model for describing the relationship between the reverse logistics management, forward logistics management, information technology, corporate citizenship, and logistics performance. 


Design/Methodology/approach – The research relies on mixed method theory by explanatory research. Documentary research was conducted with 624 research papers that for identifying the construct of model. Then, survey research was conducted with 420 logistics directors or managers from Thai’s electronics companies. The analysis was conducted with the structural equation model (SEM).


Findings – The documentary research was confirmed the model construct that three major factors that consist of forward logistics management (FLM), information technology (IT), and corporate citizenship (CC) had impacted on reverse logistics management (RLM). Also, RLM had impacted on logistics performance (LP). The statistics analysis of structural equation model indicated that the confirmation with the documentary research. The forward logistics management (FLM), information technology (IT), and corporate citizenship (CC) had positive impacted on reverse logistics management (RLM). By the way, the corporate citizenship had the highest positive impacted than other factors.


Research Limitations/ implications – The paper contributes to the logistics performance by reverse logistics management perspective. Also, the green business concept by corporate citizenship. The sample was the electronics industry or assembly-to-stock business. Limitations was the model fit for some business and environment. Limitations suggest the future research in discovering in others business. Implications – research finding reveal the importance of understanding what corporate citizenship means to firm’s business executives in competitive advantage with reverse logistics management and sustainability perspective.


Originality/Value – This paper introduces the reverse logistics management model in Thai context and contributes how to create the logistics performance by revere logistics management.
